One of my favorite handmade shop owners and bloggers is the sweet Bethany of Stella Kenton Body Shop. She and I connected a while ago when she chose to advertise her fantastic all natural vegan bath and body products on my site, and we’ve been good friends ever since! Not only do I love to promote her shop, but I totally buy from it too-one Christmas that’s what everyone in my family received-awesome themed packages full of her wonderful products. I stand behind them 100%.
Bethany also blogs over at Happily Rambling. She talks a lot about her garden, the chickens she’s raising, life with her family, and more. I actually did the blog design for her-and it so perfectly represented her and her loving happy hippie ways. I just love this girl.
Well, Bethany wanted to give my readers another chance to win some fantastic goodies from her shop, and I wanted my readers to get to know her a bit better, so I did a fun little interview with her. Please take the time to learn a bit more about her and her process, check out her shop and blog, and enter the following giveaway!
Even better-you can take 15% off your entire order at Stella Kenton Body Shop with discount MySoCalled15 at checkout!
How did Stella Kenton Body Shop get started?
I started Stella Kenton after being frustrated with my lotion options at the store. At the time, my daughter was a few months old and her skin was incredibly sensitive and nothing I could find at the store was working or helping, so I decided to make my own. After friends started using and loving my lotions I decided to turn it into more than just a hobby.
What keeps you passionate about your shop?
The emails I get from customers with sensitive skin issues. I’ve had many people tell me that they’ve been able to control their psoriasis or eczema with my lotions and oils. It makes me incredibly happy to know that my products aren’t just yummy smelling things, they actually help and heal.
I am obsessed with my body oils! They’re made with organic moisturizing oils, that do not clog pores, and organic essential oils. They are moisturizing, smell great and can remove makeup and dirt buildup on your skin.
Do you do it all alone, or do you have helpers?
I make everything by myself, but I signed on my best friend, Rich, about a year ago to help me on the business side of things.
How has your shop and products changed over the years?
I actually still use the same recipes that I did when I first started out, so in that sense they really haven’t changed too much. I do have a few new products that I’m using local raw honey in and am hoping to continue that and move towards a 100% organic and locally sourced ingredients product line. My labels have changed a few times, though, and I now sell on my own website instead of just Etsy.
What is a goal you wish to complete with your business in the next five years?
As I said above, I’m working to move towards becoming completely organic and using mostly local ingredients, including making my own essential oils from my organic, non-gmo herb garden. I’m also hoping to move away from Etsy, slowly, and solely sell from my own website and create a name for SK.
If you had one piece of advice for anyone starting a shop, what would it be?
Don’t question yourself too much! If you have a passion for what you’re doing then there will be others passionate about it. It may not take off as quickly as you think or would like, but don’t give up and don’t question yourself. Those sales and happy customers will come.
Beth wanted to treat my readers to some wonderful all-natural goodies to try for themselves. So she’s put together an awesome prize pack including Rose Hip and Tea Tree Cleansing Face Oil, Mango Peach Lip Balm, Honey Lip Balm, Uplifting Lemon Salv, Pink Lemonade Lip Scrub, Bordeaux Lip Tint, and Color Me Coral Lip Shimmer! I’m jealous that I can’t enter to win this stuff. So much goodness!
