Here in Salt Lake City we stay pretty close to our roots in spite of the growing city life. Located just a few miles from the city, there stands Wheeler Historic Farm. I’ve been to the farm a few times, usually on Sundays when they host their farmer’s market and weekly breakfast. It’s always a really great outing and you can get a good old-fashioned breakfast inexpensively.
Last spring my photography class and I took a trip to Wheeler Historic Farm. Unfortunately on that day the memory card in my camera filled up and had to be switched out. So I’d almost completely forgotten I’d taken these photos until the other day when I found them and I finally sat down to edit them. There are quite a few, so I’m going to go ahead and split them up into a few different posts. Today, I’ll be showing you some of the beautiful old equipment they have around the farm.
I just find old equipment like this so beautiful and often the perfect subject for photography. Each piece of equipment at Wheeler Farm has a history, whether it’s an old wagon that no longer is in use but once carried many loads of hay and happily giggling children around the farm, or an old tractor that still gets to put in a hard days work now and again. History is beautiful in it’s many forms.
Have you ever visited Wheeler Historic Farm? Or is there a really cool farm in your town?
