Howdy friends! I have another fun giveaway for you this week! Today I’m interviewing one of my favorite photog buddies-Stephanie from Captured in the Lens. I met this girl when she was my swap partner, and ever since I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know her and follow her photography adventures. Plus, she has a cute dog named Walter who keeps me highly entertained with his shenanigans.
Stephanie is giving one lucky winner a $20 Photojojo gift card, but before you enter to win that bad boy, get to know this good girl:
How did you get started with photography?
I’m not sure what actually got me started. I do remember always loving taking photos. Even when I was a little kid. I would blow through rolls of film like they were free. My pictures back then were absolutely terrible, but I always loved taking them.
What is your favorite thing about taking photos?
I love capturing the beauty in life. I think there are so many simple things in life that are actually really beautiful and make amazing photographs.
What is your favorite type of photography?
Nature for sure. I love capturing flowers and Fall colors. Nature is so beautiful.
Who are some of the photographers that inspire you?
I could go on and on. 😉
What’s in your camera bag?
I am very basic with my equipment. I have a Canon SL1 (it’s small and lightweight so it’s perfect for carrying around daily), Canon 24mm lens, Canon 50mm lens, and Sigma 18-250mm lens. That’s it.
How did you get started blogging?
I’ve been blogging off and on for years…probably since around 2009. I’ve never really stuck with anything for very long (I think the longest was 1 year). I used to do lifestyle blogging…sharing my life. I started getting anxious about sharing this stuff online, but I didn’t want to completely quit because I love the blogging community. So, I made my photography blog. I can still share some personal things without sharing too much and I get to share my photos.
How did you get involved with crisis counseling, and why do you do it?
I love volunteering and I love helping people. My work schedule and really life makes it hard for me to be able to get out and volunteer as much as I would like to. Insert Crisis Text Line (http://www.crisistextline.org). This is a way for me to volunteer and help people all from the comfort of my home. I highly recommend volunteering for them!
What is one piece of advice you would offer a beginning photographer?
Take lots of photos! Practice is what will make you better. I still take a ton of photos that I hate, but I can see a difference in my photos even in just the past 3 months. I am working on a Project 365 and I can see a difference in my photos from day 1 to day 60. It’s awesome to see progress like that.
Stephanie is giving one lucky winner a $20 gift card to Photojojo where you can buy cool camera-related things like lenses for your phone’s camera, Polaroid cameras, and lots more! Open worldwide, giveaway ends 10/27/15 at 12AM, and entering below agrees to all terms and conditions.
