HAPPY HALLOWEEN my spooktastic readers and friends! I LOVE Halloween, but you know who else loves Halloween? The fabulous Nichole from Cuppa Geek-which is why I have her as your Saturday Spotlight today. Are you excited? I am!
Before I get into the fun part, you know the interview and tea giveaway, I just want to remind you that if you’d like to be featured in my Saturday Spotlight for free, and you’re a smallish blogger and/or handmade shop owner, just fill out this pretty little form and I’ll get back to you. 🙂
How does your family spend Halloween?
We typically go trick r treating with the younger kids and then when they are done, go home, watch The Monster Squad or some fun 80s-90s kid friendly horror movie. It is such a blast! This year is especially fantastic because we will have the premiere of Ash vs The Evil Dead. I’m just slightly excited!
What is your favorite horror movie?
This is such a hard question. I have so many favorite horror movies in so many different horror categories. I will have to go with Waxwork. It isn’t well known but I just love the story line. I grew up watching this movie and have watched it well over 200 times at least. I used to fall asleep to it every night. It never gets old to me and I love how campy the movie is while trying really hard to be scary. The dialogue kills me every time I watch the movie.
What is your favorite scary myth/legend?
Bloody Mary. This legend still scares me to this day. If ever the power goes out, I will not go into the bathroom without several flashlights lighting my way. We have a lot of mirrors in the house so whenever I wake up in the middle of the night, you can hear me running to the bathroom as quick as I can to avoid looking at them. (I have a crazy active imagination!)
What has been your favorite costume you’ve worn?
It isn’t so much a costume, but I bought a dress that was made out of a Dracula T-shirt. I lost the dress during the movie a couple years ago, but hands down it was my favorite outfit I have ever worn on Halloween. Even beat out my Lita Ford leather pants outfit! Whenever you can pair striped tights with Vans and a dress. . . you can’t go wrong! Note: She’s wearing it in the intro photo at the top…
If you could do any costume and money/time were no effort, what would it be?
I would love to have my entire family dress of like the gang from Scooby Doo. Not hard to do and wouldn’t cost too much, it would be more or less getting the twin teenagers to join in on the fun. I love snuggling with the younger boys on the couch watching Scooby Doo while eating popcorn or caramel apples. Such sweet memories had by all.
How did you get started blogging at Cuppa Geek?
In March 2015, I applied and then was accepted into the SororiTea Sisters, a blog of about 10 tea reviewers all over the world. After doing Sisters for a month, I decided I wanted to start my own tea blog. Before I knew it, my fiance had created CuppaGeek for me. I love exploring the world of tea and mashing it with my love of all things horror and geeky!
How did you get so interested in different teas?
With tea, there is so many different varieties of tea, you just have to jump in! It is sort of like wine. There are different harvests, different types, different flavors, different styles, you just have to figure out which ones you like and then keep exploring. I started drinking tea about 10 years ago seriously when I was trying to cut the amount of coffee and soda in my diet. I learned that I had a taste for it and have never looked back. My current tea stash has well over 700 teas in it.
If you were forced to only drink one kind of tea for the rest of your life, what would it be?
BigFoot Tea by Wedngio. This tea is a black tea but it is my go to tea for just about any time of the day. I love how rich and malty the flavors are. This tea never lets me down and it is always there for me. I reviewed it awhile ago and just feel in love with the whole company. They have a mythological creature aspect to them with having teas named after BigFoot and Loch Ness. How can you not love a company like that?
What is your favorite book, and why?
Oh my goodness, I have so many! I am an avid reader and try to read a book each week. I can’t really pick an ultimate favorite book but I can pick my favorite authors to read during Halloween. Stephen King and Dean Koontz for a long time dominated my reading pile. Books like IT scared me to death while books like The Vision freaked me out. Throw in some Anita Blake (Laurell K Hamilton) and I will be a happy girl!
Also, Nichole is getting married on 7th, how exciting! Don’t they make a super cute couple?
