One of my favorite things to photograph is flowers. Any type-flowers that are just growing, flowers that are really blossoms, etc. I just love foliage and getting in there with the details to show different angles of plants and where they come from. I’m a total plant nerd.
When I visited Wheeler Historic Farm last spring there weren’t very many flowers just yet, as it was only late March or early April and things hadn’t quite started bursting forth from their buds yet… However we did have some lovely tulips starting to pop up, and a lot of different blossoms and berries on bushes to capture. I’m sure people think I’m crazy when I’m out snapping photos of a bush from all different angles, but those are the photos I typically end up liking the most.
Most of these flowers and blossoms were just outside the old Victorian Farmhouse that was built in 1989 there at Wheeler Farm. I just love that house, and I can sit and imagine myself as a young farmers wife putting in long days, and then sitting on the porch as the sun sets and admiring the lovely shades of plants popping up in my garden. Sounds heavenly… But that’s another time and place. One of these days I’ll have a wonderful garden and a place to sit in my new yard, and I’ll be able to appreciate the fruits of my labors there.
For now, I’ll just enjoy the plants and flowers that I find other places.
Do you have a garden? What’s your favorite flower?
