One of my favorite things about meeting other new bloggers and sharing them with you, is finding bloggers who really have something to teach us. It’s so great to have someone who can pass on skills and advice, and Nakeya from Divine Elements of Design and Decorator’s Voice is just that. She’s an interior decorator with a love of planners, and not only is she here to be interviewed today, but I have a review of her Planner Box and a giveaway as well!
Just remember, if you’d like to be featured here in my Saturday Spotlight, you can just fill out this little form and I’ll make it happen. 🙂
What inspired you to become an interior decorator?
I’ve always had a love for interior decorating since I was a small child. When I joined the military (a million years ago), the first thing I did was decorate my room to make it my own. As became older and had my own apartment and owning a home, everyone always loved my home and asked me to help them decorate theirs. I decided to go to school for it and make it a career. I absolutely love creating beautifully decorated spaces for myself, family, and clients…
What do you think the basis for a well-decorated room is?
In order for a room to be well decorated, the room must start with a purpose. I’ve been to homes where the client has no idea what to do with a space. They are just throwing things into a room and turning it into a junk room. We need to start with identifying the room’s purpose, then we can properly decorate it. Clutter is also a major hinder in interior decorating. It can sometimes be impossible to appreciate the interior decor when the room is full of clutter.
What inspired your love of creative planner supplies and creating them?
I’ve always used a paper planner and have encouraged others to use them. Planner supplies make using a paper planner fun. It can be fun and allows you to use your creativity.
Why is having a planner important?
In order to fully maximize your day’s potential, I feel it is important to have a plan. “A failure to plan is a plan for failure.” There is no way I could accomplish as much as I had, without proper planning. There are 24 hours in a day. By using systems and strategies, you can fully utilize all 24 hours.
If you could offer one piece of advice to someone who wants to get more organized, what would it be?
If someone really wants to get more organized, they should sign up for my free 5 Days to an Organized Home & Life email course.
On top of all this fantastic stuff Nakeya does, she’s started selling a new Planner Box in her Etsy shop. She sent me one to review so I could show you just how awesome it is. I was so excited to receive this box, and it was full of so many fantastic little goodies that were both high-quality and adorable. Not only are the goodies adorable, but the packaging is too!
Nakeya is giving one lucky winner their very own Planner Box. Giveaway is open worldwide, and ends on 10/20/15 at 12AM. Entering below agrees to all terms and conditions within the Rafflecopter widget.
