If you have just found out that you need glasses, you might be feeling a little panicked. Can you pull the geek chic look off? Take a deep breath and calm down, having to wear glasses is no big deal.
If you really hate wearing glasses, you can always get contact lenses. However, before you go down that path, I thought I would share some beauty and confidence tips with you so that you can rock your glasses.
Pick the Perfect Frames
The most important thing you can do when it comes to feeling confident in your glasses is choose the perfect frame. Much like when choosing a new accessory, such as a handbag, selecting the perfect pair of glasses takes time and thought. Don’t make the mistake of rushing, take your time and you can select a design that you love.
Take your face shape into account. The key to success when it comes to choosing glasses is picking a pair of frames that work well with your face. If you’ve got a heart-shaped face, aviator and rimless frames are ideal. If you have a square face, frames that are oval or rounded, tend to work well. If you have a long face, frames that are more rounded should look good on you. And for round faces, angular, rectangular frames are ideal as they space the face out a little.
To find the frame that is perfect for your face shape have a browse of eyeglasses online. As well as looking at the shape, it’s also a good idea to pick a color and style that you like – whatever you do, don’t go too bright. If you want to be able to wear your glasses with every outfit, neutral frames are a must.
Perfect Your Makeup
Many new glasses wearers make the mistake of thinking that they have to apply more makeup to make it visible. However, that’s not actually, the case. While you may need to make some areas of your makeup a little less natural-looking, not all of it will need to be heavier.
Always make sure to keep your under eye concealer and foundation as light as possible, as under the magnified lens, you can end up looking cakey. (This is never a good look, so make sure to keep it light.)
Be smart about your eye makeup. Your glasses lenses will make your eyeshadow more visible than normal, so it’s best to opt for natural or rose-toned eye makeup. (You could also consider using your eyeshadow to compliment your frames – just an idea.) Curl your lashes and then apply a few coats of mascara – you want your lashes to stand out but not look too overdone.
To give your face a boost of elegance, pop a bold lip color on. You’ll notice that as soon as you apply your lip tint that your face will change and look more balanced.
You might be nervous about your new glasses, but there’s no reason to be. As long as you have picked a nice pair of frames and know how to style your makeup properly, you can look just as fabulous in glasses as you do without them.
Don’t let your glasses knock your confidence, half of the world wears them. It’s just a case of adjusting, and soon enough you’ll love your new look.
To make the process of adjusting to wearing glasses easier, take note of these tips.
