First of all, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I love Halloween. Second, can you believe how fast 2017 has just zipped by? We only have TWO MONTHS left in the year. Can you believe that? I mean, that’s 55 days until Christmas (I’m so sorry, ouch), and only 39 days until my due date. Where has the time gone? I guess it’s time for my October Currently and some life and pregnancy updates…
October Currently
Here’s the happs on what I’ve been up to and into in October…
Currently Reading… The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker. It was recommended to me because I liked A Discovery of Witches, and other witchy books, but this one is kind of… Meh? I mean, it’s not bad enough I can’t finish it. It’s okay, really, but it’s just okay. It’s not great. It feels more YA than the actual content is… Maybe I’m just not that into other world fantasy…
This month I also read Lost Among the Living by Simone St. James and that was a fun one. It was a great little period ghost story to read before Halloween. Also, The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey and I cannot praise it highly enough. I even recently posted it as a recommended read. So so so good!
Currently Watching... C and I just finished Stranger Things 2, and it was SO good. I really enjoyed it.
Currently Drinking… Lots and lots of water. I broke down and invested in a hydro flask bottle that keeps my water cold ALL day and it was the best thing I could have done. I got this knock-off brand bottle that was a little cheaper and came with a three different lids and a straw and it’s been very effective in keeping my water intake up. I’m not sure it performs as well as the name brand ones, but it gets me through an 9-hour workday.
Currently Feeling… Tired. Tired AF. Also pretty close to ready for baby… I’m nervous, but I can’t wait for her to be here.
Currently Planning… Christmas gifts. I’m trying to get them all taken care of and put together before the baby comes so I don’t have to worry about it after. I wont be able to go out after, since baby will be on quarantine, so before my due date is my plan.
Life and Pregnancy Updates
Life has been moving quickly this month. We had a fabulous baby shower (read all about it HERE) and received lost of gifts. We’ve also dropped WAY too much money on the other needed baby stuff since then, but we wanted to be prepared in case she decides to make her appearance early. Babies are SO expensive, they weren’t lying…
Halloween Updates
You all know Halloween is my favorite, but I’m legitimately too pregnant to party this year. I had to bow out of all the parties I was invited to, and for Halloween night C and I are just planning to cozy up with a scary movie. I’m soooo tired, and staying up late isn’t really an option for me these days. I also had these grand ideas for a cute couple’s Halloween costume where C was Mario and my big belly was a bob-omb, but I didn’t get it done… So for our one dress up event he was Mario and I was a very pregnant witch.
AOU Trunk or Treat
The one Halloween dress-up event we did go to was the Atheists of Utah Trunk or Treat event. We handed out candy while the god-kids trunk-or-treated and it was a blast. We hope to do it again next year, this time with our own little one.
Baby Updates
The baby is doing well, moving around like crazy. We go in once a week now for NST (non-stress tests) to check the amniotic fluid and her heart rate, and everything is reporting very well. She finally went head down as of last checkup, but I’m convinced she’s flipped back up again. I guess we’ll see on Friday when we go in for another NST and an actual ultrasound. We’re down to 5 and a half weeks left, and I can’t wait to meet her!
October Adventures with the Boys
This month we had a lot of fun Fall adventures with the boys. Here are just a few of the best ones…
Witch Fest at Gardner Village
I’d never been to Gardner Village before, but man was it fun! They have so many fun little shops, cute witches the boys loved posing with, and even a petting zoo where the boys got to ride ponies and pet Alpacas and other farm animals. We also got them their own Harry Potter wands, which they were all to happy to run around casting hexes and curses… Should I be worried that B keeps casting the unforgivable curse on everyone? Haha!
Black Island Farm & Pumpkin Patch
One weekend we hit up Black Island Farms and went to the pumpkin patch. We went up to Ken and Kristina’s house where the kids could all play together, and then we all went over to the farm together. We took family photos (post about those coming soon), played on the slides, went through the corn maze, took a hay ride, and picked pumpkins straight out of the patch. It was such a blast!
Joy in the Leaves
Do you remember being a kid and jumping in big piles of Fall leaves? I do, and I was so happy to get to recreate that for the boys. They had such a blast diving into the leaves their dad raked up for them. Such cute kids.
Jungle Jims
On one of our Wednesday night activities we took them to Jungle Jims, which is an indoor play place with games, bouncy houses, and rides. It was so fun to see little S face his fears and actually go on stuff when he’s usually so afraid. Then, he liked it so much he kept asking to go again! so cute.
Other Outings
We’ve also done a lot of other stuff like gone bowling up to the U of U. Since C is a student there it’s fun to go up and show the boys his campus. There’ve been various dinners and outings, and we even did a savers trip to pick out Halloween costume stuff. The boys didn’t end up using it, but it’s fun to keep around to play in here.
Home Fun
Aside from all of the fun outings and activities, we’ve started hanging out at the house more. The boys were SO excited to see their cute room, and we’ve gone out a few times to get stuff for it. We made a trip to the Mall for some legos and Build-A-Bear (holy cow, that’s expensive… So cute, but I don’t know if we’ll do that one again! lol) and we’ve done lots of playing, reading, and just hanging out.
