This post is a little late, but can you believe my baby is 2 months old? I can’t believe it! Happy 2 months to my gorgeous Amélie, who is such a good baby. She’s beautiful, smart, and she makes every day feel like the most amazing blessing. I’ms sappy, I know, but time is flying and I’m just soaking up all the time I can with my beautiful girl.
Amélie at 2 Months
It’s hard to beleive it’s been 2 months since I spent 52 hours in labor delivering this beautiful girl. She’s grown so much in that time-gaining roughly 3 pounds and 3 inches. She’s 11.5 lbs as of her last weigh in, and a full 24 inches long-my baby is 2 feet long! She’s going to be tall like her daddy.
Since her 1 month check in, Amélie has met some important milestones. She’s recognizing faces and reacting to people’s expressions and voices. She’s grabbing for things, which means watch out for your hair!
Her head control is also really incredible, she’s able to just hold it up and keep herself mostly up when you’re holding her with less support-impressive and strong girl.
She’s also started smiling, just look at that! It melts my heart every single time… She’s so beautiful and happy, I just love her.
Medical Check Up
We still need to get her in for an ultrasound of her hip as the doctor still detects a click. There’s a chance she’s going to end up in a brace to correct some hip displaysia, which would suck but would be better than her having to get her hip replaced as an adult. She also has a tiny bit of lopsidedness in her head, as she prefers her left side when she sleeps or is being held, so we’re trying to work on getting her to lay on the right at night. It’s kind of a battle, but it’s better than a helmet.
We’re already sleeping through the night, can you believe it? We have since about 6 weeks. This doesn’t mean she actually zonks out for the full night, but we don’t have to get up and feed or change at all. She fusses a little in the early morning, and at that time if I transfer her out of her co-sleeper and onto me she’ll sleep longer so I can catch those extra few hours of sleep.
This Month’s Adventures
Here are a few fun things Amélie has gotten to experience this past month…
Grandma and Grandpa Built Her Swing
Since my parent’s helped me finish the bedroom, and we were able to get the bed moved back downstairs, grandma and grandpa put together her swing for her. She doesn’t love it as much as I’d hoped, but it does help some when I need a minute to eat or get something done. She likes to be held more often than not. (Also, can you tell that these are our favorite jammies? She wears them often haha!)
Amélie got to spend a few days snuggling up at Grandma and Grandpa’s to celebrate Grandma Shar’s birthday. It was a fun day of board games and cuddles with her and her brothers. My dad’s dog, a.k.a. his baby, seems a bit jealous of all the attention the baby gets. But she snuggles right up with them as well.
Future Book Nerd
We’ve also started reading to Amélie. Studies show that it’s never too early and it helps their brains start making more connections. We started her on the Star Wars Little Golden Books, naturally. Never to early to love books or to become a nerd!
