For most people, when they think of the term ‘spiritual,’ money doesn’t come into it. It’s more about connecting with the world around them, being at one and peace with the universe. However, there are ways that your career (and therefore the money you make) can help you to be a spiritual person. They are not totally unrelated, and if you work hard enough, they can combine to become something that makes your life not only good, but happy and healthy too.
What You Put In You Get Out
Money is a useful currency that we cannot do without in this world. Energy, however, is and should be our primary currency; it’s how we really live. The energy we put into our work relates directly to what we get out of it, and that is akin to spirituality. When we work hard and utilize our real innate skills, when we’re enthusiastic, when we are competent and good at what we do, we can be assured of always having work. It may not be the same job, after all, these days hardly any job lasts forever, but always being able to be in work means that you can feel safe and relaxed, and overall less stressed. Having workable skills can allow you the time to focus on your spirituality because you don’t have to be thinking about anything else. It might mean that you need to invest in your own life a little, and take up training courses or gain an additional degree or qualification, but it will be worth doing for that overall peace of mind.
Being Good Is Good
Being a good person (something that spirituality will enable you to be) will help you in your career, and having a good career will mean you can spare the time to understand more about spirituality. Therefore, being a good person in life and in work is essential. Your personality, your character, your very reputation will go before you, making everything much easier for you. Think of the people you may have heard of in your industry that have a bad reputation, or who are thought of as being difficult. For them, no matter how good they are and what skills they have, they will often find it difficult to find work or to move up in their jobs. For you, being a spiritual person, advancement is much easier.
Believe In Your Worth
Part of spirituality involves a certain level of faith, and it is at work that you can practice this belief system. That doesn’t (necessarily) mean a belief in God or any particular higher power, but is a belief that the universe can and will give you what you desire if you concentrate on getting it yourself. It means that simply sitting at your desk and hoping that your boss will materialize and offer you a promotion or a pay rise isn’t going to do much. However, understanding that you want a better position or more money and then believing that you can do that while also personally working towards that goal will have a positive effect on the outcome. It’s not just wishing, and it’s not just doing, but it’s something in between that combines both. Trust that your efforts will give you the result you want. Positive thinking will put you in the right mindset to succeed.
Nothing Is The End
You may have a bad day at work. Everyone does. Nothing is great one hundred percent of the time. Sometimes that bad day, or even just one aspect of it, can seem like the end of the world. It can feel as though nothing can make things better again, and that you are at a dead end on your journey without enough room to turn around. What you need to remember, and what will help you spiritually as well, is that there is always room to either turn around or just back away from the wall. You don’t even need to see where you are going to get back on the right path; you just need to understand which direction to head towards. So you might lose your place on a project, or you might get turned down for a promotion. You might even make a mistake and feel as though you can never look your boss in the eye again, but nothing is forever. In a few days or weeks, none of it will have mattered, and you will find another training course, or work towards another promotion. You will have apologized and moved past the mistake with your boss. Something good will have happened, in other words, to allow you to be positive and head onwards again.
Worry has no place in your life. It does nothing except raise your blood pressure and your stress levels. If you are worrying about something which you can change – change it. If you are worrying about something you can’t change, why worry? There is nothing you can do about the outcome anyway. It is a hard concept for many people to keep in mind, but worrying is a big part of everyone’s life. However, for your health and happiness, it’s best just to let things happen as they will (although that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive for success) and ‘go with the flow’ as much as possible. Overthinking and worrying about things you can do nothing about will just make you unwell, and drain you of any energy and creativity you have. That will make work difficult. It will make your home life difficult too.
Being patient is a skill and attribute that is essential for a happy, spiritual life, and a good working attitude too. There are no shortcuts when it comes to being successful. It will take time, so you need just to keep turning up and doing your best. Your patience (and your work ethic) will get you where you want to go. It won’t be overnight, so just focus on the here and now and doing the best job you can. That patience, and that ability to stick with what you’re doing and not try to rush things because you want to future to happen right now will bear more fruit than trying to bypass the system. In order to get where you want to go, you may need skills and knowledge that you haven’t yet acquired, and this is particularly true of a medical career. Take a look at www.ultimatemedical.edu/healthcare-career-guide/ for more information. Let the natural course of things run and enjoy the journey as you go.
Be The Real You
In order to be spiritually fulfilled, you need to be the real you. You need to let your personality shine. The same is true to be successful at work. You can easily put on a fake persona and pretend to be someone you’re not to impress and get further ahead, but it won’t be you getting the promotion. It won’t be you passing the job interview. This means that it won’t be the real you when you get the job, and that’s a potential problem. The job may not be suited to your real personality, just the personality you portrayed during the interview. If this is the case, you won’t be happy in your new role because it won’t feel authentic.
Don’t Feel Sorry For Yourself
Feeling sorry for yourself will put you in a negative frame of mind right from the start, and it won’t make you popular with your colleagues, either. No one wants to listen to someone who constantly complains, especially when everyone is in the same situation. If you feel you are stuck in a situation that you don’t like, you are the one with the power to change it. After all, this is your life. If you don’t like your job or find that you’re not progressing in it, look for another one. If you’re comfortable where you are despite the issues, then you will need to look at the positive aspects rather than the negative ones. None of this is easy if you have been feeling negative for a long time, but that does not mean it is impossible. It is an internal shift, and meditation may help you to get there sooner. When you look at what your attitude is like for each day, you will soon see whether it is a good one or a bad one, and then you’ll know whether to change it or not.
Do Something For Yourself
If you are ‘stuck’ in a job that you don’t enjoy, you know that things need to change. However, as mentioned above, patience is key. So if the change is taking longer than you might have hoped, take a look at doing something else – something just for yourself. Finding a hobby that makes you happy can help put you in the right, positive mindset to changing other aspects of your life. Doing one thing that you love to do can put everything else in perspective.
