Losing weight once your new baby is born can seem like a difficult endeavor, especially when your time is now taken up by the bundle of joy you’ve brought into the world, but it’s not impossible. Finding the time to lose the weight doesn’t have to be a fiasco; in fact, it can be a great bonding experience with your baby and bring the two of you closer together. For mothers looking to lose the baby weight safely, here are a few basic but proven tips that’ll have you seeing results.
Exercise with Your Baby
There are many mother-baby classes available, from yoga to swimming. Head to your local pool and gym and see what classes they have on offer and whether they have any room for you to join. Of course, you can also exercise in the comfort of your own home by simply dancing in your living room while cooing to your baby.
Swap Out Your Food
As a new mother, it can be tiring, and you can find yourself lacking energy when it comes to feeding yourself. You need to make sure you keep yourself well-looked after and well-fed, so that you’re healthy enough to keep your baby safe and healthy, too. You can eat less. However, you should instead be looking for healthier alternatives. Get rid of all the junk food in your house, and swap them for healthier equivalents, such as yogurt rather than ice cream.
You should also revaluate your eating plan. Do you eat too many microwave meals? If so, look for quick and easy meals you can make in a batch and freeze for later. You can also make use of a diet plan that is low in fat and carbohydrates but high in protein.
Walk it Off
This one is simple enough. Get outside with your stroller and get moving. Walk around town, the park or around your suburb. By walking every day, for thirty minutes, you can drop the pounds due to the added movement. Plus, fresh air can greatly improve your mental health. If you want to kick it up a notch, you can also jog while pushing the stroller.
Have ‘Me’ Time
As a new mother, you will want to spend as much time with your newborn. However, it is also important that you allow yourself breathing room. This can be so that you can enjoy a bubble bath, or it could be so that you can run, jog or hit the gym, so you improve your fitness levels and get your body returning back to normal as soon as possible. Have a family member come babysit for an hour so you can head to the gym or play a game of sport. You’ll feel much better having time just for you.
Avoid Snacks for Kids
When you have kids to feed, it can be tempting to snack on their own treats. Although you should only have healthy snacks for your children, where they have the occasional treat, you shouldn’t nibble on their biscuits or fruit slices just because they are there. When preparing snacks, this can add to the temptation, so instead, prepare your snacks for a few days in advance and when you have eaten and are, therefore, full. Then, when your child asks for some animal crackers, you can pass them the bag with the correct portion to them.
