I know, December 1st is only a few days away so really… We should have been on this already. But come on, life is crazy busy, and if you’re anything like me you probably still need a few things to fill your advent calendar with. I mean, I was ahead of the game and totally made one family of friends an advent calendar gift, and even got it hung up in their home so it’s ready to go for them. However, I need to do the advent calendar at my house now. I decided to share my list of Advent Calendar fillers with you, in case you need ideas. The best part? Many of these can be picked up at the store easily, or you can order them on Amazon Prime and get them with 2-day shipping before the first. However, if you’ve got something interesting in mind like some Fashion Cool Socks or personalized jewelry then you can give yourself some more time to get them and slip them in on a later advent day when the kids or your partner is in bed, they won’t suspect a thing!
Your Advent Calendar
First, you have to figure out what kind of advent calendar you’re going to do, and what it will hold. For instance, if you have a child who loves their online games or card games, then you may want to put in gaming figurines, game codes, pokemon cards from websites like Pokeflip, and others similar to it, you could also think about putting in a game they have asked for on the final day so it’s like an extra present.
Pre-Filled Advent Calendars
At this point, I wont judge you if you just purchase an advent calendar you like and set it up. You can go as simple as those basic chocolate advent calendars or you can pick out an amazing pre-filled advent calendar you love and set it up with little hassle. Especially when you have little-to-no time left… Like this week. I’ll share some awesome pre-filled calendars for each age rage below as well, to help you if that’s the route you decide to take.
Fillable Pre-Made Advent Calendars
If you want to skip the hassle of making an advent calendar, you can always order yourself an pre-made and fillable advent calendar. Target and Michaels both had a few this year when I went in, but here are a few you can still get with Amazon Prime shipping.
Making Your Own Advent Calendar
Another simple options is to just make your own advent calendar. There are TONS of DIY Advent Calendar options out there, but I opted to just do a simple Kraft bag Advent Calendar for my friends. I bought some Kraft bags in a couple of different sizes, though Kraft wrapping paper would work just as well. I then decorated them by drawing on them and using stickers on them, and labeled each one for each person on each day. I then used some twine and hung them up on their wall. It wasn’t super perfect for a first try, and I had to use existing nails in their wall since they’re selling their house soon, but it turned out pretty nice still.
Why I Chose the Kraft Bag Advent Calendar
I had decided that I wanted to put together a unique advent calendar with a lot of different things throughout the month. There’s nothing to expect, my friends have zero idea of what is inside each little kraft bag each day, and that’s exciting. One day does not give a hint for the next day. While I did do many days with some candy in them, there are lots of days with no candy. Plus, this family has 6 people, so 6 people with 25 days each equals a lot of different gifts and gift sizes that needed the option to be more flexible than single-sized boxes/drawers.
