November Goals – The Monthly Goals

Holy cow. Raise your hand if you’re not ready for it to be the last two months of the year… Or maybe, raise your hand if you most definitely are… I know I’m not the only one who feels like 2016 has been a little rocky-and man-October was the worst of it for me! What a rough month. I’m so ready for it to be November, and to set some November goals.

October Recap

Before anything, let’s talk about how we did in October…

Home Goals

Finish organizing the garage/making room for stuff from my grandparent’s house – In Progress (I’ve done a LOT, but not all)
Move all of the stuff from my grandparents’ that I’m taking to my house – In Progress (Again, most, but not all)
Get the house cleaned up/organized so everything will fit – In Progress (Most, not all)
Get the bedroom organized FAIL
Set up the new TV downstairs FAIL
~~Help the roommate look for a new apartment~~ SUCCESS! I found him one and he’s been there a few weeks
Get caught up on laundry FAIL
~~Sell more clothes~~ SUCCESS

October: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

October was a rough one. Aside from working two jobs and never getting enough sleep, I’ve been working to get my grandmother’s house taken care of before they lose it. This not only means going over and going through 30 years worth of stuff, but getting my house/garage ready to take what I can. I also had a TON of social engagements this month, and a couple of huge issues come up that I’m not ready to talk about publicly. It’s just been rough, and it’s left me feeling more exhausted than ever and my anxiety is on high levels.

There were some good things though. I spent some good quality time with friends, and Josh was in town which was fantastic. He even helped me at on by fixing my kitchen sink (which decided to completely stop draining and no amount of drain cleaner or taking it apart by myself did any good) and cleaning my kitchen. He also cooked us homemade Mac n’ Cheese. Man I love my friend!

November Goals

I need to find some time this month to figure some things out… I need to figure out if I can continue on with my second job or if I can afford not to have it. I love it, but it stresses me out and it takes away from my ability to do some other important things in my life. But, now more than ever, I really need the money… It’s a tough call.

Home Goals

Finish moving the important stuff from my grandparents’ house to mine
Get caught up on laundry
Clean up the bedroom and set up the bedroom TV
Get the second bedroom/office situated
Decorate for the Holidays (if I don’t do it early, it wont happen.)

Write more meaningful posts for the blog

I was down with BOTH types of the flu this weekend, which is pure torture, all while still working two jobs and trying to help my grandmother move out of her home. It’s been crazy. Well I certainly didn’t have as much success as I’d planned to last month, did I? A lot of that is because life threw some crazy stuff my way which totally derailed some plans, but also got some plans back on track.

What Happened in September?

We found out that my grandparents are losing their home (more on that in a later post) and that they had to be out by October 4th (hey that’s today!), so we had to drop most of everything and spend as much time frantically sorting through her house to save anything that was valuable and/or meaningful. This also meant that I had to mad-rush to get my house in a position where I could move a lot of that stuff to my place-a lot of big stuff. I’m taking home various furniture like the cherry wood china hutch with all the family china, my cedar chest, blankets made my great great grandparents, a million totes filled with family photos, and so much more. I’m also getting my grandmother’s kiln and ceramics supplies.

So I did manage to spend quite a few evenings working on my garage which checked that off the list, but my house got even more messy (thus the living room didn’t get cleaned fully) as I brought load after load home from grandma’s… I also made myself very sick from burning at both ends so long and so hard… There’s still so much to do, but at least the bank gave them another month so I can breathe for a moment.

October Goals

October is one of my favorite months, so you can bet there is a TON going on this month-which is both good and bad. Lots of fun stuff happening, lots of not-so-fun stuff.

Home Goals

It seems that as I grow older more and more of my nearest and dearest pick up and move away. My very best friend MelanieGrace has lived in Savannah for many years now, my good friend Samuel moved to Seattle and took with him several other friends and acquaintances, and of course my roommate of many years and best guy friend Josh lives all the way up in Edmonton. Keeping in touch with them is important to me, and these are all great ideas!

Bloggers, BEWARE Passionfruit Ads from Chelsie at Hey There, Chelsie // Unfortunately I have also experienced issues with Passionfruit Ads. It seems the founder and his entire support team have up and disappeared, yet they continue to take money-just fat chance getting any support or help with refunds. I had to file a claim with Paypal to get a refund I was due and it was a huge hassle. It makes me so sad because I was a HUGE loyalist and promoter of PF, and they let me down hard. Plus, I have yet to find a program quite like them-someone get on creating that okay? My account is up for renewal in August, so this month I’m working on setting up a different sponsorship program that does not go through them. Stay tuned for more info!

Whoa whoa whoa… I almost missed this entirely. That’s how behind I got last week with my trip, and then recovering from the trip… I’m officially too old for red eyes, and boy is jet lag a killer. However, I’m back, and I’m raring to go-June is going to be all about catch up and lots of Summer fun around here-are you ready? Well then, I guess we’d better get started with our June Goals. Finish de-junking the house. Especially my bedroom. FAIL. Big fat fail.
Get a garden started with at least tomatoes. Tomatoes are the number 1 must have! FAIL. Ugh, so not happy.

~~Save some money for my Savannah trip~~. SUCCESS! Thanks to the roommate’s rent money…
Do some art-how I miss it! FAIL.
Get out for more walks with Bubba. FAIL.
~~Pass my French final~~. SUCCESS! I received 90% which was probably my best test score yet.
Start working on my A+ certification again. FAIL.
Go to a few events that friends are hosting. FAIL Um… Probably? I can’t even remember what these were anymore…

Well, May ended up being more of a wash than I wanted it to be, and I ended up being WAY more busy than I’d hoped. I feel exhausted just trying to recover from everything that happened in May, and I’m hoping June can be a good month to recuperate. I also hope to do a better job on my June Goals because yeesh!

I think I’ll try and set more reasonable versions of the May Goals that I failed… June needs to be better and more achievable or I might just lose my mind.

I think I’ll try and set more reasonable versions of the May Goals that I failed… June needs to be better and more achievable or I might just lose my mind. But I still have so much that needs to be done this upcoming month… Life never slows down, it just speeds up…

Home Goals

Get my home cleaned up and moderately organized. Basically livable, because it’s not really right now… It’s baaaad.
Figure out what I can still plant-and get it planted ASAP. I’m thinking some squash and tomatoes that are already started might be able to plant still.
Get my lawnmower fixed… Again. This thing, I swear.. It’s the devil.
Get the air conditioner put in the window and hooked up-it’s SO hot in my house.

Social Goals

Figure out what to get my dad for his birthday and for Father’s Day.
Figure out what to get my sister for her birthday.
Have fun at the Utah Pride Festival.
Attend my cousin Brooke’s wedding.
Attend birthday parties… I have three scheduled for the exact same night. I’m thinking I can hit at least two of them…

Wowza, can you believe that March is over? We’re three months down for the year and my head is just a spinning… I can’t catch up! It’s so crazy. But, it’s definitely the last Thursday in March which means it’s time for Monthly Coffee with myself and Aubrey of High-Heeled Love. I’m also going to tack on my March Favorites this month, since I have a few things I want to share with you-and I think it fits along with the linky party we’re throwing today. Beautiful California Flower Fields You Must Visit This Spring by Local Adventurer | I just can’t get over the beautiful photography by Esther and Jacob in this post. It makes me want to visit those fields so bad, but since I can’t, I’ll settle for enjoying a little virtual visit through their lens.

That One Time I Met Meredith Grey by Mattie’s Makings | I’m a big Grey’s Anatomy fan, so I’m SUPER stoked to hear that Ellen Pompeo is so personable. I always hate finding out that our favorite stars aren’t super nice (even though I totally understand it must suck to be bugged all the time) and it’s great to hear a story like this one.

Kimi Where?: The Origin Story by Kimi Who | I loved getting to know Kimi a little better through this post. She shared photos from her childhood and talked about how she became who she is today. I’m digging bloggers getting all real on me-LOVE it!

Wild and Wonderful Connemara, Ireland by Cosmos Mariners | I can’t help but share this one. I’m so jealous (in a nice non-hater way) that Natalie got to go to Ireland and experience all the beauty found there. I’m super glad she is sharing some of it with us.

Traveling the World via My Stomach by Misadventures with Andi | I love Andi’s review of the Hole in the Wall subscription box, and now I definitely have to try it. She’s talking about traveling via food-right from your own home (or RV in Andi’s case) and I dig it!

Body Image: I Don’t Want to Be Skinny Anymore by Veil by Maryam | I really loved this post. It touched on so many different body image matters applying to loving your body for what it is and not using your body as just “something to attract boys” and I could not agree more. It was such a great post!

Marika High Rise Tummy Control Plus Size Yoga Leggings

I received the two pairs of yoga leggings above for review from YogaOutlet.com. The following is my 100% honest opinion about the leggings and their site based on my real experience.

Yoga Outlet Yoga Leggings | I decided to order two pairs of leggings from YogaOutlet.com to try them out. I was pleasantly surprised that they carry a pretty wide variety of plus-sizes, and not only just “extended regular sizes” but actual made for plus size bodies sizes. They’re also surprisingly inexpensive, as I was able to get two pair for under $70-and if I’d been a little more frugal with my choices I probably could have even gotten more. There are lots of options!

I chose the Marika High Rise Tummy Control Leggings in Black, and the Marika Tummy Control Plus Size Yoga Capris in Rouge Red (it’s really pink, not red…). I did find that the sizes run slightly loose, I think I’ve lost a little weight too since I checked the measurements so that could be part of it, but I was very pleased with the product overall. Super happy with these! I’ll post a photo of me wearing them soon, I promise, but for now I’d honestly recommend you checkout YogaOutlet.com for any yoga needs!

Wearable Wednesday: In Combat by Hannah at The Perfect Storm | I’m also totally loving Sara’s partner’s hot pink combat boots.

Raw Yellow and Purple 14kt Gold Fill Necklace by Starlette Designs | I’m OBSESSED with this necklace. It’s soooooo pretty.

March Favorites: Beauty

Photo Shoot Makeup Tips & Full Tutorial by Deux Bella | This is perfect since I have a photo shoot next month! I may have to employ some of these tactics to make myself stand out for the camera. These girls really know their stuff when it comes to makeup.

Quick and Easy Hair Styles for a Long Bob by Lynzy & Co | I love this! A long bob is basically what my hair is, and I’ve been trying to wash it less to keep the purple in it, so I’ve been struggling for hair styles to do on the in between days when my hair is a little wild and dirty. This post has lots of great and adorable options for me to try.

Overtone Conditioner | Speaking of keeping my purple hair purple, I’m OBSESSED with overtone. It works sooooo well. Now I just have to figure out how to get more since my color is back ordered. I think I also need the pink one too so I can mix them and keep the pinker part of my hair prettier.

Lemon Coconut Truffles by The Love Nerds | Mmmmm. I’m a fan of anything lemon, but these look AMAZING.

Meatless Monday: Fiery Three Bean Chili with Spicy Lime Sour Cream by The Veganista Foodie | Um, lime? Meat-free? GIMME! Everything about this dish sounds good, and I’ve loved getting to know Tish and learning more about meatless options through her blog.

Sriracha Honey Butter by 4 Sons ‘R’ Us | This sounds sooooooo good. I love Sriracha and honey butter, so bring it on!

When I posted my 20+ Unique Gifts for Creatives holiday gift guide last week, I included a planner-there’s nothing more useful for both the most and least organized types of people. After a little research, I’ve decided that’s the next planner I’m going to try my hand at using-it’s adorable, has such cute accessories, and it’s easily half the price of some of it’s competitors. (No, they didn’t sponsor this post-this one is all on me.) So when I thought about what prize to come up with for my personal day of the 12 Days of Giveaways here on the blog, which happened to fall on the same day as my Monthly Goals link-up needed to go live, I figured what better prize?

So before we jump into entering the giveaway, let’s do this whole goals post thing. If you’re new here-this is a monthly link-up hosted by myself and Karen of A Peek at Karen’s World. Each month we recap our previous month’s successes and failures, and then set some goals to accomplish for the upcoming month. November’s Goals

How I did:

Home Goals:

→ Get my spare room set up for Josh’s visit. IN PROGRESS… Only a little more painting, but it should be done this weekend.
→ Unpack the kitchen stuff and the bookshelves at least. FAIL. At least the boxes made it in the house, right? Right?
→ ~~See if I can get my dad to come out and put up a fence for Bub before it’s winter.~~ SUCCESS! We have a fence.
→ ~~Clean up the remaining junk in my yard before the snow~~. SUCCESS. Mostly. There are a few things…
→ ~~Clean out the garage (which still holds yard sale stuff) so I can park in there when it snows~~. SUCCESS!
→ ~~Rake up the leaves in the yard.~~ SUCCESS!
→ ~~Get about half of my holiday gifts completed or figured out~~. SUCCESS. But only half…

Health Goals:

→ Start doing Yoga or some form of exercise at home a few days a week. FAIL.
→ Cook more, eat out less. Significantly less. Only once a week. FAIL.

Blog Goals:

→ ~~Put together a kick-A group giveaway for a Kitchenaid Mixer~~. SUCCESS. It’s still running-enter HERE!
→ Finish updating old posts and pictures here on My So-Called Chaos. FAIL.
→ Finish updating old posts and pictures over at Chaotic Goddess Swaps. FAIL.
→ Decide whether to keep Health NOT to NUT or merge it with MSCC. FAIL. I’m still not sure…
→ Put together my 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways and schedule them. IN PROGRESS. lol

Work/School Goals:

→ ~~Register for classes for Spring Semester~~. SUCCESS!
→ Really make good progress in my CompTIA certification. FAIL.

Well… I’ve been so busy I feel like I can hardly hold myself too responsible for everything on this list. I’m. So. Exhausted. lol

Home Goals:

→ Finish getting the spare room painted and set up for Josh.
→ Unpack all of my books. These are currently in boxes all over my house…
→ Unpack the pantry items. These are currently in boxes in my kitchen…
→ Finish covering the windows in plastic.
→ Weather-proof the back door.
→ Nail the wood back up on the side of my garage where the wind blew it off. :-/ blah.
→ Clean the carpets and rugs.
→ Give Bub a good bath.
→ Get all the laundry done and hung up properly.
→ Unpack shoes and clothing and set it up in my closet.
→ Dejunk my closet and set stuff aside for sale/donation.

Social Goals:

→ Celebrate Yule/Winter Solstice with my friends.
→ Have a good time while Josh is in town.
→ Throw a successful holiday party.
→ Figure out the rest of my holiday gifts.
→ Enjoy Star Wars (thanks to my company!)
→ See Krampus and maybe another movie-I have movie passes and Josh will be here!
→ Host a successful potluck and cookie competition at work.

Blog Goals:

→ Finish updating old posts.
→ Get the rest of my Work With Me section of the blog set up.
→ Grow my IG following to 5k before the end of the year.
→ Put together another awesome group giveaway like the Kitchenaid one.

Health Goals:

→ Do something to be more active-I have got to. This is killing me-I totally didn’t fit in my winter coat this year.
